Geosciences Ltd (GSL) is a newly established company (2009) that has been formed to provide services and advice on environmental matters to industry and to the commercial, residential and agricultural sectors. The Managing Director and principal shareholder is Johan Faurie.
Profile of Key Personnel
Johan has a BSc Hons in Geology with Applied Geophysics and an MSc in Geology.
He is a member of the Waste Management institute of New Zealand.
Prior to emigrating to New Zealand in 1995, he was part of a team from the Atomic Energy Corporation (AEC) that established a disposal facility for the safe burial of low to intermediate level nuclear waste. During these years Johan represented the AEC at many international conferences where he delivered papers on the subject of site selection criteria for the disposal of nuclear waste.
On arriving in New Zealand Johan built up and managed the NZ branch of an international environmental consulting company. In 2008 this office had a staff of six professional personnel conducting environmental investigations throughout New Zealand.
He has been involved in many landfill investigations ranging from the consenting process to the long term monitoring of closed landfills. He has managed one of the largest soil-asbestos contamination remediation projects in New Zealand. He has conducted more than a hundred environmental site investigations ranging from small residential sites to large land development projects and industrial clean-up works.
He has also provided expert evidence in court during legal disputes on environmental matters.

Peter holds shares in the company. He is a BSc graduate from the University of Canterbury. He also has university papers in financial management and marketing from Massey University.
He is a professional member of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry and a founding member and past president of the New Zealand Association of Consulting Laboratories. He has extensive background as a chemical analyst with specialist knowledge in industrial and agricultural chemicals and the legislation covering these.
Peter is an approved handler HSNO trainer and test certifier with the Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA).
He is a business mentor with Enterprise North Shore Business in the Community.
Following a laboratory career in pesticides and trace organics analysis with his own business and consulting laboratories, Peter founded Technical Strategy Group Ltd in 1996 of which he is managing director.
