Site Management Plan - SQN

Otahuhu Power Station

Stonehill Property Trust Ltd's Transformative Development at Otahuhu Power Station

Stonehill Property Trust Ltd is embarking on a transformative journey with the former Otahuhu Power Station in Auckland. This staged development is poised to reshape the site's purpose, beginning with the establishment of a reinforced hardstand surface. This surface will cover the majority of the area, enabling leasing opportunities for commercial and industrial activities in the short to medium term. These initial endeavors serve to offset holding costs while a comprehensive scheme plan is crafted and staged development plans are implemented. The long-term vision includes a diverse mix of high-density residential, commercial, and light industrial activities.

To facilitate these ambitious goals, Geosciences has devised a flexible process in collaboration with other technical experts. This process allows for site-wide earthworks, including the removal of existing residual buildings and infrastructure, and the gradual completion of the reinforced hardstand surface. To secure stormwater consents from Auckland Council, Geosciences has been instrumental in creating a site management plan that encompasses:

Staged Soil Contamination Investigations: These investigations are designed to evaluate soil quality across the site and assess any associated risks to human and environmental health within each development stage.

General Controls and Measures: Geosciences has outlined comprehensive controls and measures that will be in place during site preparation earthworks on what is potentially a contaminated site.

The initial phase of investigations focused on "high-risk" areas, including the Tank Farm, Fuel Delivery Compound, and Transformer Enclosure. The findings from these investigations have informed the development of robust site management controls for each stage, aligning seamlessly with Auckland Council's consent for the staged development.

Stonehill Property Trust Ltd's commitment to this ambitious redevelopment, coupled with Geosciences' expert guidance, is poised to usher in a new era for the Otahuhu Power Station site, revitalizing it for a dynamic future.
